The Yamaha YCL-450 Clarinet outfit is an ideal upgrade from their cheaper YCL255 student model. Exhibiting a surprisingly professional sound from its Grenadilla construction, the Yamaha YCL-450 emits a beautiful warm tone. Yamaha designed the YCL450 series clarinets so that they wouldn’t just suit a player starting out, but that could continue being played well into their future. Yamaha expertly designed these clarinets with the knowledge they’ve gained through years of experience crafting professional level instruments.

Silver-plated keys
The silver-plated keys of the YCL-450 give a softer and warmer sound
New adjustable thumb-rest and strap ring
A new adjustable thumb-rest accommodates different sized hands, helping the player develop proper playing technique. Also, a neck strap can assist with supporting the clarinet by attaching one to the strap ring. Firmer screws and silver soldered ring give this new feature excellent durability.

Duet+ Model Option
The YCL-450M model additionally features Yamaha’s “Duet+” treatment applied to the instrument bore. Duet+ models employ innovative techniques to form a protective layer next to the air column. The upper joint body is drilled out slightly larger around the bore and tone-holes before thermoplastic ABS resin is injected into the cavity, instantly forming the inner shape of a clarinet. This design retains as much of the virtue of traditional clarinets as possible, while its natural appearance is hardly distinguishable from conventional all-wooden models. This makes the clarinet more durable and less susceptible to the effects of humidity and temperature. The combination of precious wood and state-of-the-art resin isn’t simply a “Duet” of tradition and technology – it’s a “Plus” advantage!
Pivot screw
The YCL-450M incorporates the same taper screws as YCL-650 that makes adjustments easier than ever.
Second register vent tube
A new register vent tube shape improves pronunciation in the second register. While the YCL-450iii needs sufficient air pressure for good response, the YCL-450M offers great response, even with low air pressure. Of course, this makes it easier to play, even for children.
