MATON 75TH ANNIVERSARY DIAMOND EDITION ACOUSTIC GUITAR
To celebrate 75 years of continuous guitar production in Melbourne, Maton decided to produce a guitar that showcases the best design and construction they could bring to a guitar, as well as celebrating their loved & cherished favourite tonewoods.
This is a new and exciting era in Maton’s history! Maton now have another group of luthiers enter their second decade of Maton guitar making. These talented young craftspeople are also adding to the work of our older, more experienced hands. As such, they’re consistently creating instruments that are the best Maton has ever produced, and the world is taking note!
In recent years Maton have explored new shapes, materials and specifications through research and development in conjunction with the Maton Custom Shop and the passion and drive of Custom Shop luthier, Andy Allen. Many of the recent production models have benefited from that, so Maton wanted this 75th Anniversary model to showcase all of this work.
This guitar also marks the first time Maton have used their ‘traditional deep’ body outside of the Maton Custom Shop. For some time Maton have been looking for an acoustic guitar tone that falls somewhere between the big sound of a dreadnought and the brighter, focused sound of the 808 series. This is where the Traditional comes in. At 502mm long and 309mm wide, it is 23mm longer and 24mm wider than an 808. But, this is still smaller than a dreadnought. This makes it the perfect shape to fill the gap between their two main body shapes.
Other features exclusive to this guitar include:
- 7 Piece Mother of Pearl Inlay Diamond on headstock
- Full gloss vintage amber sunburst face, vintage amber back & sides
- Grover open-back machine heads (reduced weight as opposed to the standard Grover)
